Florence and Venice during the Renaissance! I'd disguise myself as a priest so I could wander freely and absorb the architecture, paintings, sculpture, and music. And yes, I'd try to get glimpses of the geniuses who created those masterpieces (and the authors who wrote Renaissance literature).
