Years ago, a friend suggested I write a novel based on a character I discovered during a historical research project. I set that idea aside for over a decade, until a class on novel writing inspired me to begin. The rest is history--actually, historical fiction!

Florence and Venice during the Renaissance! I'd disguise myself as a priest so I could wander freely and absorb the architecture, paintings, sculpture, and music. And yes, I'd try to get glimpses of the geniuses who created those masterpieces (and the authors who wrote Renaissance literature).
