Lyra Selene Yes! I have completed several manuscripts and have more in the pipeline, and hope to publish them soon! The publishing industry is unpredictable, however, so I can’t say when they might hit shelves, if ever. Stay tuned for more news though! 💗
Lyra Selene The world of AMBER & DUSK is large and complex—I would love the chance to someday explore many more stories there. However, at this time my publisher has not approved either a continuation or spin-off of this series. But never say never!
Lyra Selene Hi! At this time my publisher has decided not to continue the series past DIAMOND & DAWN :-)
Lyra Selene Dreaming in technicolor. Sword fights. Imagining impossible worlds. Villainous monologues. Getting lost, and then finding your way home. Kissing scenes. Raging against the dying of the light. Killing your darlings.

Getting so deep inside yourself you find something you did not know was there.
Lyra Selene AMBER & DUSK was inspired by a winter flight from Germany to the US. The flight departed in the late afternoon, about an hour before the sun set. As we flew westward across a ruffled tundra of pale clouds, the red sun seemed to hang motionless, bathing us in copper and gold for the duration of the eight hour flight. And in that seemingly endless dusk, I dreamed of a world where the sun truly never set. And so the shadowy Dusklands and sun-scorched Amber Empire were born.
Lyra Selene Inspiration must be grown; seeded and planted and watered and fertilized before blooming.

Inspiration is reading so much your eyes swim and your head spins with a thousand improbable star-lit fantasies. Inspiration is purposefully layering your eyes with wonder, and noticing how the most familiar things can be unfamiliar. Inspiration is a collaboration with the universe to see things not as they are, but as they could be.

And even then, inspiration must be married to hard work and commitment if it is to grow into anything really amazing. At the end of the day, inspiration can mostly be summed up in three words: Butt. In. Chair.
Lyra Selene Read, write, LIVE.

First, you must read widely. Non-fiction, fiction, magazines, novels, blogs—read everything you can get your hands on. Exposing yourself to a broad variety of voices will allow you to begin to grasp what appeals to you, or clenches your jaw, or echoes in your bones with a feeling you can’t name.

Then, begin to write whatever it is you want to write. For now, unburden yourself of any expectations or assumptions about what writing is, what it looks and feels like, or what it’s supposed to accomplish. Words have power—feel them thunder through your veins, hungry for freedom. Then let them tumble forth, unbridled.

Finally, live a life rich with adventure, and emotion, and intention. Fill the well of creativity with beautiful, strange, incomprehensible things. Everything else will grow naturally on its own, I promise. In the meantime, enjoy the wild ride!
