Roxy Matthews Actually, it's really interesting I saw this question when I did because I was just talking about what I had planned next. Pale Bay needs to be finished. That is foremost. In succession, Second Time Sam is in edits, Drago's Destiny needs revisions/edits before a final edit, and our amazing finale (at least I'm still hoping will be) is about halfway written. However, considering all the changes made in just two books so far, I'm sure that is a good thing.
Fate and destiny, they are always on cue.
Somewhere in all of that I have a holiday themed story to write for an anthology I was accepted into.
Squee. My first. Man I'm so excited, so honored.
Details will follow as we get closer...and once I write it. But no worries, I've got the idea, I just enjoy the thrill of a deadline.
After the hurricane winds die down from that, I will be focusing on reviving Ben Marke's story. The books I self pubbed over ten years ago. It's time to bring Ben Marke to life. He's waited long enough.

Wow, that's a long story. I'll shorten it, for your reading pleasure. Numb was my latest release, however it initially started as my first book written after a four year hiatus. It turned into the second book in my Pale Bay series when Hawk and Randi's story blew up, took precedence. Randi is a tough cookie. I'm sure she would have never allowed herself to be second rate...not again.
The Gem story line that has began to overtake Pale Bay started with a piece only meant to bring trouble to Randi's life. I never expected to see it spread, to see the power this Gem had, or the story that would come from that. I do have to thank my ex-traditional publisher for that awakening in me and my writing.
The rest is a mix of a novel written for a contest, fates never connected, and a story so intricate that even the Gods themselves couldn't have foreseen.
And if they could...they sure as Hell could've helped me write them. ;)
Roxy Matthews Right now, I am editing/revising the third book in the Pale Bay series, Second Time Sam. It is trying, to say the least. Lol.
But, they all are when you get to this point in the writing process. I swear, I've read this piece one hundred times and I still don;t think I have it right.
We only know when it goes to print and readers tell us. ;)
Writers Problems, for sure. lol.
Roxy Matthews There's so much I would say, but I have a feeling you mean just one thing, so...
Take all the advice you can. From readers, editors, even those dreaded denial letters. Because they all have one thing in common, they all thought highly of your writing, whether you made the cut or not, to give you their advice.
That is invaluable.
Others would say 'never give up', I say, 'always heed the voices of those who care to give it.'
Roxy Matthews The ability to create something. I am no artist, no painter, no musician, and definitely not sport inclined...but I can dream and I can put them into words that 'paint' a scene, that 'sing' a song, and 'fight' a great battle...even of just will.
So, I guess, the best thing about writing is that I can be everything in one.
Roxy Matthews That's a toughie. It really depends on whether my writers block is due to a whole novel, or just the scene I am stuck on. But I find if it is just a scene, I step away. Have a smoke. I know, bad me. And usually the words come that I couldn't find before. If it is the whole book, the whole story line that has stalled me, I usually read other writers work. Especially those self pubbers like myself. They inspire me, keep me dreaming, keep me moving forward.
