It began with a random scene between two characters that just came to me out of the blue. I asked myself, who are these people and why the heck are they in my head? As I started to build a story around that scene, more details and characters emerged from my imagination. By the time I was done, that original "random" scene wasn't even in the finished story!

It's not anything I actively do. Sometimes the sentences and paragraphs flow. Sometimes they don't. For me, the hardest part is trying to hold off writing until I really know the story I'm trying to tell, and the people in it.

Carve out time every day to write (or at least most days). It doesn't have to be a huge chunk of time, but ideally, it should be more or less the same time every day. This is something highly successful writers often advise, so it's probably right.

I've honestly never experienced writer's block so I don't know how I would deal with it. I'd probably binge read other people's books until the juices started flowing again. And if they never did, at least I'd get a lot of reading done.
