I had many stories built up over the years. People enjoyed as I shared them, but I didn't see how they could fit together in a cohesive work. Then, a friend asked, "Hey, did you get your French driver's license yet?" I said no, and they were really surprised. "That's been going on for years! What's the hold-up?" I thought then that I had something to sustain interest and be the main theme around which I could write about my experience as an expat in France.
