My breath hitched as I listened intently in the darkness, for whatever had stirred me from my slumber. My scream shattered the silence as the pop and snap could be heard coming from my own bones as they started twisting into something ugly and strange.

My answer might change as I read more books, but right now I would want to visit Laini Taylors world in her Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. Her descriptions of Chimera are amazing and I would love to see them in real life.

I am a very moody reader, so I don't generally have a planned out list of books I am going to read. On average I have a stack of 15 or so books that I'm 'interested' in, and when I'm looking for something new to read I'll shuffle from that stack.
I do the same thing when it comes to writing. I found that by having several stories going at the same time I can focus on the story that calls to me most at the moment. Most of my characters have very different personalities, so if I'm feeling a little dark or grumpy I might focus on a character that has a similar personality.
On of my new favorite authors that I have found recently is Laini Taylor. Her Daughters of Smoke and Bone series is amazing and she is such a talented and inspirational writer. Another one of my favorites is Laura Thalassa and I pan on devouring all her books in 2020 if I can.

I got the idea from my most recent book by reading hundreds of other books. I found a genre I fell in love with, and once I ran out of books to read, or grew tired of the same old story line, I decided to write my own book. I took all the subjects I loved and threw them into one story. And I took all the things I detested about books and left them out.

Write what you know and what you are comfortable with.
If you don't have an understanding of the topic you are writing about it will seem forced and reflect in your writing.
Write because you love writing, not because you are looking for fame. If you don't completely love your story and the world you create, you can't expect your readers to fall in love with your characters and story either.

When I start writing I find it is more difficult to stop inspiration from flowing in. I get so excited about all the things I want to write about next, I find it is difficult to turn my thoughts off. When I take a break from writing, most of the time my mind is going a million miles an hour as I'm imagining conversations between my characters and their next adventure.

At the moment I am working on finishing the second book in my series.
I went through a lot of life changes this past year, including moving halfway across the country and starting a new relationship.
It took me a while to get grounded and back in a place where I could focus on my writing. But now that I am settled in, I am happy to announce that I am actually working on the last chapter of my book.

The best thing about being a writer is being able to create my own magical world in which I can escape. I write because I love being able to put anything I can dream up into words. My only hope is that my reader's understand and love the world I create as much as I do.

When I get writer's block or feel like the story line is being forced instead of progressing naturally, I find the best thing to do is walk away.
Often times, all it takes is putting my mind to a different task for new ideas to start flowing.
