Jennifer Florax My advice for aspiring writers would be to write for yourself first. Don't worry about who your audience is when you start; just get your thoughts down. Make sure your write because you want to, not because it has become a chore.
Jennifer Florax Along the same vein as my first book, my next project focuses on how to hunt for a job. It includes the actual process to start looking, what to expect in an interview and how to prepare for an interview.
Jennifer Florax Over my career, I had the privilege of training new employees and hosting students in the work place. It was a learning experience for me, as the students were really well educated but had no idea that what they were learning, while valuable, was really just a starting point to building their career. I realized that there wasn't really a plain-speaking resource that spoke to the simple realities of a work environment. I really just wanted to remove that shock for new employees entering the work force.
Jennifer Florax I have two kinds of writer's block; one where I can't write anything and another where I have so much to say I don't know where to start. When I can't write anything, I walk away and do something else. Cleaning my house usually works great to get the creative juices flowing. As long as I have a mindless activity, it clears my thoughts and allows me to get back on track. When I have too much to say and can't write, I find I spend so much time trying to structure my thoughts that I get frustrated. I always need to remind myself to simply put the words down on paper and worry about fixing it later.
