Alexander O'Donnell The Iliad, notably hanging around Troy.
I'd just pull up a chair on a hillside and watch the battles, at least the highlights of the war's 10 year run of fights and gods intervening whenever they felt like it.
Alexander O'Donnell A family goes to Disneyworld and rides 'Its a Small World'.
However, the ride breaks down and they're left stranded for hours with the music playing and dolls still moving and staring at them.
Alexander O'Donnell Sadly not as many sci-fi books as I'd like, more towards Fantasy, as I am brainstorming a different, separate series that is a hybrid of alternate history/entirely alternate Earth, with fantasy creatures existing, and would act as a throwback to old Victorian era science and sci-fi, but critiquing it with a modern eye, as well as being a commentary on exploitation of ecosystems, how imperialism and industrialization changes the world, for better or worse.
Alexander O'Donnell Taking ideas initially spawned in my old fanfictions, as well as inspirations from the old victorian to mid-20th century first contact and exploration tales in sci-fi. I also used my experience and studies in my History degrees on imperialism, and my interest in space tech and biospheres, and the interactions between much greater powers, namely in how they play out.
Alexander O'Donnell Besides my usual consumption of other works, I can closely attribute my start to Fanfiction. I have no shame in saying that, first reading it, and then having a go at it myself for 6 years before committing to Prime Vanguard and its yet-to-be-published sequels.
Alexander O'Donnell The seventh entry in my science fiction series, of which the 1st is published, the other 5 are in editing and awaiting funding for cover art. The seventh book is becoming rather robust, to put it mildly, and as I anticipated planning it, it will be getting split up in some format.
Alexander O'Donnell Writing stories always keeps you thinking even in your downtime, it keeps your imagination alive.
Alexander O'Donnell Don't be afraid to write even your most ridiculous ideas.
For those more ambitious, I recommend having a good career/salary to sustain the necessary marketing and editing/cover art costs you might incur if you want to truly get your writing out there.
Alexander O'Donnell Brainstorm ideas for future stories/parts of the same story in the meantime, or else backtrack and 'edit as I go' for what I have written.
