A couple million people take missions and service trips each year, and most of them do so with the desire and hope that it will in some way be "life changing" or they've heard that it's supposed to be so. Sadly, this is not happening, according to a myriad of studies of both missions and educational trips. This is a tremendous missed opportunity!
My goal in writing "After the Trip: Unpacking Your Crosscultural Experience" is to equip travelers with the mindset and the tools to truly integrate these one-time experiences into their ongoing life. Being TRULY impacted by these trips is very possible, even years after a trip; I've seen it happen many times over the past 30+ years. We just need the vision and the resources for making this desire a reality.
