Jennifer Berg This summer I'm reading mysteries. I haven't finalized anything yet, but in addition to my usual stand-by authors (who I'm not above re-reading), I'm going to work one of M. Louisa Locke's books into the list -- Victorian era San Francisco just sounds too fun to miss.
Jennifer Berg I don't have writer's block. I plan my books in advance. I have outlines, characters, locations, etc. all set up before I start "writing," so there's never a moment when I sit down and wonder what to write.
Jennifer Berg In theory, I suppose I can decide when I want to take a day off. But that hasn't happened yet. I work 7 days a week year-round. I work at least half a day on Christmas and while I'm on vacation. Even if I take a break from writing, I'm still doing social media and outline or researching the next project. I love being so busy.
Jennifer Berg writing is work. Don't wait for inspiration. write everyday and keep writing everyday.
Jennifer Berg My editor and I are currently editing the second book in my Elliott Bay Series. I'm currently writing the 4th book, but as soon as I finish, I'll give the 3rd book another edit before showing it to my publisher.
Jennifer Berg I wouldn't say that I get "inspired." Sometimes a I can't get an idea out of my head. When that happens, sooner or later, I have to write it down so I get on with other things.
Jennifer Berg I have no idea. My ideas usually come to me when I walking my dog or doing something unrelated. If I forget them, that's fine, but the ideas that stick around get turned into books or short stories.
