Jennifer R. Laird The mystery in my life that could be a plot for a book would be why I self sabotage myself.....
Jennifer R. Laird The best thing about being a writer would have to be the release of being creative. There's something satisfying about creating something out of thin air and sharing it with others. It's also really fun to work an idea for a story, to flesh out the characters, and see them through their obstacles.
Jennifer R. Laird Sometimes I will work on another creative project, like a craft-painting/jewelry making/sewing etc and focusing my creative energy entirely on that instead of the writing. It seems like that break in focus helps clear out whatever was blocking me and I can get back to writing.
Jennifer R. Laird My advice is:
1.) Don't edit while you write. Write it out first until the end. If you need to make a change-keep a notebook or "insert comments" on the side of the document for what you want to change--but do it later.
2.) Let the manuscript sit a couple of days or a week, without reading it. Then, go in and read/make changes.
3.) Network with other writers on (Twitter & Facebook) this is a MUST! You will learn so much from other authors and it's important to have that connection/helpline.
4.) Research the market--but write what makes you excited :)
Jennifer R. Laird I am currently working on Book Two of The White Wolf trilogy, "Transformations"
Jennifer R. Laird I get inspired to write from listening to music and participating in twitter community hashtag writer games like, #1linewed. I met a lot of great writers this way--and got inspiration and support.
Jennifer R. Laird I got the idea while on my daily commute to work. I was just listening to music and an image came into my mind. Then, this story started kind of telling it's self to me.
