What did you think of The Great Gatsby?
Jillian Cantor I've long loved The Great Gatsby, ever since I first read it in high school! (There's an essay included in the back of Beautiful Little Fools that talks about this!)

I really liked "In Another Time." Are you writing a prequel so we learn about Max's parents and how they discovered or built the closet?

I am curious if any of this story was based upon actual people or events ? I enjoy books based on letters since both books I wrote were based on actual letters my grandmother had saved. You might enjoy her memoir " Elsie- Adventures of an Arizona Schoolteacher 1913-1916." I am now working on a historical novel, and those characters are so very vivid in my mind. I look forward to reading this book.
Jillian Cantor The Lost Letter was inspired by what I read about real resistance workers during WWII and real stamps that engravers created to work with the resistance. But my characters were not based on real people, no! There are a lot of real events in the book, such as Kristallnacht and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Best of luck with your novel!

Has there been a sequel to searching to sky that i missed?
Jillian Cantor No, there's no sequel! I would love to write one someday but nothing is in the works yet. Thank you for reading!

After reading first "The Hours Count" and then "Margot," I am in awe of your ability to not only bring your characters to life but to imbue them with heart and soul. I am carrying those characters in my own heart; I cannot imagine letting them go. How do *you* let go, when the story is told? What do you do to recover your equilibrium? And, of course, the quintessential reader inquiry: What is your next project?
Jillian Cantor Thank you so much for reading! I don't think I ever let go, but when I start working on something new that moves to the forefront. My next book will be out in 2017 (probably next summer) and it's a historical novel about a stamp engraver in Austria in 1938 working with the resistance and a woman in 1989 who discovers an old letter with one of his stamps and tries to unravel what happened to him and the woman he loved.

I wish I could meet you in Atlanta. I plan to read your previous novel Margot as well! I'm having a hard time forgetting about the Rosenbergs. Do you know if there is a decent movie that follows their life???

If you do decide to have a sequel to Searching for Sky, when do you plan on writing or starting it? Because if there is a second one, i'm sure it'll be as beautiful and heartbreaking and inspirational and uplifting as the first one!
Jillian Cantor Hi, thank you so much for your question! I'm so happy you enjoyed Searching for Sky. At the moment, there are no plans to publish a sequel (though I do have an idea for one, so maybe one day. . .)

In searching for Sky you make it seem like there is a series or something and I can't wait to see what Meagan does next and if she runs into more obstacle that test her mental strength I hope you continue please anwswer if and when it comes out?
Jillian Cantor It's not currently part of a series, and there are no definite plans for a sequel (though I do have an idea for one. . .so maybe someday!).

How did you come up with the idea for Margot?

Jillian Cantor I have an idea sketched out for a sequel and would love to (and hope to be able to) write it someday!

Do you feel like your characters have a life of their own and you're just writing it all down, or do you feel like you are creating them as you go along?
Jillian Cantor They absolutely feel like real people to me. When I'm in the middle of writing a draft, I think about my characters a lot as if they were real and sometimes even dream about them.
