I'm working on a follow-up to THE HOLLOW (in some ways a prequel, but in other ways a sequel) told from the perspective of Lauren Vine. It's a suspense/thriller just like THE HOLLOW, set ten years later. After the murder of someone in Ellie's circle, all fingers point to Lauren, newly released from prison.
But here, readers of THE HOLLOW will get a glimpse into Lauren's backstory and begin to question differing perceptions, differing views on reality. And I'm hoping that despite how unlikable she Lauren may be through Ellie's eyes, understanding her better will win some readers over. She's hardy—and tragically foolhardy—this scrappy little Lauren Vine! (And may or may not be a vengeful murderess, you will have to see.)

I've always thought about the mysterious man who used to drive by my house yelling, "Mouse!" I wrote about him in an essay - about never knowing who it was until a card that showed up on my back porch 20 years later, solving the mystery and identifying this "Mouse Man." But the most fascinating driver of a story, I think, would be all the history leading up to why this guy felt the need to shout out, "Mouse!" on drive-bys in the 90's, even after my father passed away, and after all that time telling me little stories about their time together, like how they would break into churches in the 70's and whatnot. Jeez, I think I have a story now!
