Douglas L. Wilson Jaundiced light, like the skin around a festering sore, forced it's way out around the closed door. Death wailed it's agonizing song.
Douglas L. Wilson I walk away from the work for a little while. Staring at a blank or half written page only serves to fuel the block for me. Getting my mind on something else will usually clear things up, but not always. In extreme cases, those times where the story refuses to move, I go back and change something, a character, or a plot line. Sometimes a story gets stuck in the mud because it was never going anywhere to begin with.
Douglas L. Wilson Don't give up. Perseverance is a must in getting published. It took me a year to find an agent, than another year to see my book in print. Send out queries until your fingers ache, then send out some more. There's no substitute for hard work.
