I'm currently working on the sequel. It is going to be one hell of a read, i promise!

I always have music in the backdrop while writing. The genre depends on the mood that my chapter needs to carry.
Also, I have done most of my writing sitting in coffee shops. A good cup of coffee can inspire anybody! :)

Firstly, do not let the story decide the end. Let the end decide the story.
Secondly, write daily. Even if you write shit one day, next day, write again.
Thirdly, there might be times when self-doubt will obscure your sensibilities. Share your first couple of chapters with someone who has not read them before. If they don't like them, you know you have to re-work on them and if they do, you will get motivation to write the next few chapters. Keep such 20 friends ready :)
And finally, re-write as many times as you can. Every time you revisit a sentence or a paragraph, you will be in a different state of mind than you were when you visited it last. That will bring in a fresh perspective and will help make it better.

Writing helps you understand yourself and people around you better and that's why it is therapeutic. Agreed that the conflicts are designed by you, but to be able to write the reactions of your characters, you first need to put yourself in those characters' shoes. And when you do that, with an increased understanding of the world around you, life suddenly appears simpler.

I am too new a writer to comment on something as abstruse as that, but will still give my two cents.
The key is to never stop writing. Having professional responsibilities as well, I dedicate 1 hour every day to writing. There are times when I have a pen in my hand, but am not at my creative best. It is important to accept that such moments are a very critical part of the overall learning process.
Even if the word, sentence, paragraph or even the chapter that I wrote was cringe-worthy, it fired up my grey-cells. Every failed idea sows the seeds of a brilliant one. The key is to nurture the plant. Daily.

Every living soul is a story personified, I believe. I have always loved watching these stories unfold, conflicts arise and characters respond to them. During one such phase, this idea was conceived. The difference here is that I was one of the characters in the story.
