Dan Allen I think the publisher waits for first quarter sales results to make the decision on audiobooks for first time authors like me. I'll let you know as soon as I know. Stellar reviews probably don't hurt!
Dan Allen I accidentally checked out some books on how to write fiction from a library. I was intrigued. I had never tried to write a story before, so I gave it a shot, just trying to write one chapter. I ended up writing a 400 page science fiction novel novel in 2 and half months and discovered that I really loved writing. It was crazy. People have talents they don't even know about. It was a great life lesson. Never be afraid to try something new.

Dan Allen Readers. Readers are amazing people. They make it all worth it.
Dan Allen Currently I have the sequel to Fall of the Dragon Prince with my editor. I have a scifi series ready for acquisition and some fun standalone fantasy novels. I also have a scifi-themed fairy tale short story series in the works. Check out my website authordanallen.com to see my books in progress or sign up to be a beta reader.
Dan Allen 1. Read "The 38 Most Common Fiction Writing Mistakes".

2. Finish a story. That makes you a writer. Then go learn how to write. Your first work will be terrible, but you will at least be able to relate to the how-to write books.

3. Join a writer's group and get critiques early--don't wait until you've finished a novel to get feedback because you will have to rewrite it entirely.

4. If you can afford it, go to a writer's conference or convention.

5. Become a beta reader for an author you like (like me!).
Dan Allen I tell bedtime stories to my kids. When I come up with a good one, I can't even go to sleep. I just start writing it on the spot.
