I go out and do something mundane such as grocery shopping, or I take a complete break and read a book. All I do is get away from the cursor taunting me and do something completely normal. When I come back I usually have a seed of where I want to head and just start writing, I can always delete it later but at least I'm writing.

I wanted Gerald to be put into a position that turns his world upside down, which this story does very well.

Inspiration comes from observing the world around me. I twist normal situations into either magical or medieval and see where it goes in my head. Funnily enough though most of my ideas come when I'm in the shower :)

I have two projects on the go at the moment. One is the sequel to my debut novel, GERALD AND THE AMULET OF ZONRACH, where he has to be careful he doesn't end up back in Wyverndawn shorter than when he left.
The second WIP is a medieval upper MG about a young Saxon boy who goes the the ceremony which makes him a man in the eyes of the Saxon world. His world falls apart and the only way he can repair it is by killing a mythical wolf.

Never give up on your dream. Always finish a first draft, don't edit constantly as you go through it. Finish it then edit it.
