Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

I.D. Russell I tend to pull ideas from all kinds of places; dreams, movies, music, life, people I've met, other books, places I've been, weird things I've heard people say... anything and everything!

I.D. Russell What keeps happening to all of my pay checks!

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?

I.D. Russell The Shadowrun world seems fun. I'd most definitely not be a shadowrunner though!

What are you currently working on?

I.D. Russell I have a backlog of over 20 books that I've written that I want to release but I'm always writing new screenplays and books too!
I also run a couple of youtube pages Jeremy Sockman Movie Reviews and Ringo Jones Productions.
My two movies are on Tubi and Amazon Prime and I'm trying to put together another one soon!
Ie) I'm busy!

How do you get inspired to write?

I.D. Russell I watch movies, listen to music, read, work a regular job, study martial arts... usually an idea for a story comes from a coalescing of experiences or a concept from a movie that I thought of a different angle for.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

I.D. Russell It's much cheaper to put out a book than it is to make a film and you're not constrained by practicality. That's why my stuff tends to get big and silly in places where my movies are forced to rely on what I can accomplish cheaply and easily...

How do you deal with writer’s block?

I.D. Russell Just keep writing, even if it might not work. Have the discipline to do something every day no matter your mood.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

I.D. Russell Read a lot of books, watch a lot of movies, understand how plot works in stages and figure out what you are trying to say beyond the basic surface. Take courses, practice, practice, practice. Live a little first to have some life experience to draw on.
