Benjamin Hively A number of things, really. We live in tumultuous times. The Westboro Baptist Church, with their homophobic philosophy, was the biggest inspiration really. So, I hate to say it, but thanks WBC!
Benjamin Hively It could be as simple as a word I hear. More often than not, it's dreams I've had. Sometimes nightmares. I can get ideas from sitting around and listening to people's conversations. Eavesdropping is the key to a successful inspiration!
Benjamin Hively Jack and Diane. That little diddy is great don't ya think?
Benjamin Hively Go for a walk and let the outside world take over for a bit. It's nice to surround yourself in the din of the world sometimes. Helps clear your mind.
Benjamin Hively Being able to remove yourself from reality and placing yourself somewhere else. You are able to recreate any environment, put yourself in situations you never thought possible, just by sitting at your desk.
Benjamin Hively I would say give yourself time. Don't rush. I know a lot of writer's say "Write, and keep writing" but I believe giving yourself a break now and then is nice. Don't rush through a story just to get to the end. Spend time with your characters, spend time in the settings.
