FBI Agent Kate O'Hare and master thief Nicolas Fox from Janet Evanovich's Fox and O'Hare Series.
The duo are quite a contrast when forced to work together. The writers do a great job of creating humor, attraction, and sexual tension between the pair. The relationship continues to grow throughout all five books in the series, which are very entertaining reads.

Write the type of story that you passionately want to read. A story that challenges the reader to face a dilemma or conflict they normally wouldn't, regardless of your genre.
Don't give up, and don't be afraid to try something outside your comfort zone to get results.
Plenty of other people have completed a novel. Normal people. People just like you. No reason you can't do the same.

I was forced to retire from law enforcement after a police injury left me with four neurostimulator implants in my back. Writing allows me to use my experiences in law enforcement to create compelling conflicts that challenge readers.
I still have the opportunity to impact other people in a positive way. But now I do it through a story, instead of being on the streets.

Some of the scenes were inspired by real events that I encountered during my law enforcement career. I used those experiences to give readers an insight into the hopes, fears, and frustrations of a police officer. But not just when we’re kicking butt by fighting crime, like a movie.
Being a husband and a parent made me a better cop, but being a cop created unbelievable challenges for my wife and kids. They overcame them all and have made me a blessed man.
It allowed me to write an action packed thriller with deep characters that people can relate to.

I write in a wardrobe. Yes, I said a wardrobe. When I was a kid my favorite books were The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis. While I don’t write in the fantasy genre, I’m still inspired by the creative world of Narnia. So I made it necessary to pass through a wardrobe to enter my writing room-fur coats and all.
It's the perfect space, but I still have to be inspired by what I write. Passionate about the story I want to share. The lessons I want others to experience and ponder on. That's why I write thrillers involving a rookie city cop from the country. I know that story first hand, and all its struggles.
