Jennifer Gilmour Clipped Wings was born when after releasing my debut novel (Isolation Junction) there was a large response of women telling me their own stories. They appreciated how difficult it could be publishing a book of this nature and thats when the idea came. Why can't others share their stories? They can be heard, even if we make that persons name anonymous and change it they still get the opportunity to potentially help others.
Since the publication it has helped others as well and those stories will continue to help not only those reading the book for what it is but those in the sector as case studies.

Thank you for your question and I hope this has answered it for you.

Jennifer Gilmour I can express my message and it gives me courage to continue my journey to bringing awareness to domestic abuse. I also am thrilled to connect with other writers and discuss our work and our world. It was one of my life ambitions to become an author and so I feel proud to have achieved it.
Jennifer Gilmour I tend to write a little each day. I am lucky that I haven't come across it that often but when I do, I grab a glass of water and rehydrate and if I am hungry I will eat. Taking that time out and re-fueling really can help.
Jennifer Gilmour I have been pondering this for a while and a lot of people have asked why on earth I haven’t done this already.
For those of you that don’t know me personally then you will soon as you will learn why I have a love for Foxes and what it all means. You won’t believe some of the stories I have to tell but there will be ‘the signs, the love and the laughs’ although there may be a few tears shed as well. It may seem like a bit of a mystery at the moment but don’t worry… it will all become clear.
They will be FREE to read and on a blog on my website… The first one will be published in the next week… again keep your eyes peeled for that all important link.
Jennifer Gilmour I was on an awareness course about Domestic Abuse. Alongside me were about 8 other women who had been in abusive relationships. As the day progressed, I found that I simply couldn’t believe that some of what the other women were saying was exactly what I had gone through but just in a different format. Domestic Abuse tends to go in a cycle and whichever way it begins, the behaviour spirals again and again. At first it could be months between incidents but for me, as time went on there were many instances within one day. It is quite normal to try to prevent the cycle from starting again by changing your behaviour as much as possible. By the end of the course I had come to understand that we were all subjected to the same behaviour and that no one knew before that this could even happen to someone i.e. that a relationship can be so unhealthy and soul destroying. I realised that others simply needed to know more about this unacceptable behaviour; they needed to see the warning signs before the relationship goes further or the behaviour gets even more serious. On the other hand I needed others to see the behaviour for what it is. If people are in a relationship and the behaviour within it is not acceptable and is not their fault, it can't simply be changed by changing yourself.

I knew I had a story to tell and with my previous unfinished written work I realised my first novel had to be more than a book but a message - a way for others to be able to pass a book on to help victims and to get the penny to drop and bring about realisation of what is happening sooner. This means that when the relationship ends victims and survivors realise they are not the only ones out there and its ok to talk about the abuse.
Jennifer Gilmour Write a little each day, even if it is just a sentence. Its important to keep the flow going and not get that block you can come across.
