The idea for The Demon-Born Trilogy came from a conversation I had with my little girl, Lucy, about angels. She wanted to know what made them so special, and for every reason I gave her- they can fly, they watch over people- she countered with an argument of things she could do that were more important. It got me thinking about why we see certain attributes as being more significant than others and what would happen in a world where angels were real.

My inspiration comes from the people around me and the books I read. Every person I see on the street sparks an idea in my mind. The world is full of intrigue and mystery, I think I could write forever if I only had the time.

If I am finding it hard to write then I read. I always have a huge TBR list on my kindle and on my bedside locker. Reading has always been my escape and my greatest joy.

Read. Read. Read. There is no better way to hone your craft than to know it. Read everything, in every genre. :)

The Shadow City and The Shadow War, the second and third books in The Demon-Born Trilogy, have been written but now I am in the process of editing and polishing the stories in preparation for release. The Shadow Children is also being given a final polish by my editor so that we can update the book, no structural changes but a few line level tweaks for missed typos and repeated words. After The Demon-Born Trilogy I will be working on a project about witches, which I'm excited about. The central character is very different to Grace, she's rougher and more unyielding but getting to know her has been an interesting process! :)
