I have just completed the final book in my Sisters of Light trilogy, The Starlight Tide. My next book ,Veils of Smoke, I plan to begin soon.
From the coastal city of Durban, to rural hills outside Ixopo, to smoky Alexandra Township and the posh suburbs of Johannesburg, Veils of Smoke follows Nonhlanhla Biyela on a dangerous undertaking to try to locate her missing cousin, Sinazo.
As Nonhlanhla tracks Sinazo parallel themes of female subjugation will be presented. The gutsy protagonist is assailed by flashbacks from their harsh childhood as rural girls living within the same clan. The girls endured poverty and neglect as they struggled to survive in a rigid patriarchal system.

Freedom to sit at the computer with unwashed hair and a dog on your knee weaving a tale that is entirely under your control. As a writer I also attempt to promote tolerance and an understanding of pertinent issues South African society which is still enmeshed in traditional cultural and ethnic practices.

Don't even mention those two words! Just grind on. Like any job there are good days and difficult ones. I remember a day when nearly 5000 words poured out of me and then a month when I hardly wrote that many. I often remind myself that slow progress is better then no progress.
