Two things help me get inspired to write: music and weather. For music, I must have a playlist that takes me back to my youth; for weather, I love writing in the rain, especially when the sky is dark but the grass still has its green.

My most recent book was heavily inspired by my childhood in West Virginia. It focuses on a little girl named Abigail after she meets a shy, socially awkward boy on her new bus route.
