Avra Davidoff I find ideas and inspiration in so many different places. I always write my ideas down in my "idea book" then block off time to write. I prefer the late evening, after everyone has gone to bed - solitude!
Avra Davidoff Start. Don't wait for the "perfect time" and don't assume motivation will suddenly strike, or that if it hasn’t yet, you just need to wait a bit longer. Motivation is commonly found on the other side of action.
Avra Davidoff If I'm wrestling with my own creativity, I share some of my ideas (e.g., the title, the character's name, or an event from the story) with my potential audience (kids!) and ask them questions such as: "What would happen next in the story?", "Why does that happen?" or "Who else is in the story?" Kids have some of the best ideas! It's also helpful to join a critique group...listening to the feedback and ideas of others can spur further thoughts.
