Richard Earl Rice It involves flying in light airplanes and fighting forest fires, both things I have done during my life. I wrapped that knowledge around a terrorist threat and bingo, the story just laid itself out in front of me and away I went.
Richard Earl Rice Ideas for stories bombarded me for years until I retired and finally had time to do something about writing. I picked one of those ideas and didn't stop until it was 400 pages long and finished. What a great feeling that was, enough to get me going on my next book, and my next one and so on.
Richard Earl Rice Just finishing my next novel, INCENDIARY. Its a story about terrorists with a new idea for punishing America, and those who are standing in their way. It should be out within a month.
Richard Earl Rice Have a routine. Write something every day and plan a certain time to go after it...find out whether you are a morning, afternoon or evening person. Maybe even a night crawler.
Richard Earl Rice Being part of a writers group, where I have made many friends and on top of that, they have made me a better writer through critiques of my work.
Richard Earl Rice When I'm in the middle of a project, and get stuck, I just keep writing, even if its pure jibberish. I can always edit it out later, but at least I got something down on paper.
