I got the idea for this book because I love dystopian / apocalyptic novels and I love vampires and I thought ... wouldn't that be interesting to put them together? Originally the story centered around the same agenda, however it was more of a Greek God (think Percy Jackson), however as the story progressed and I got older, I realized I wanted to do a vampire story that no one had ever heard of before, and hopefully ... that's what you're going to get.

I've loved writing since I was in high school. It wasn't always a passion of mine, but when I was a sophomore or junior (can't remember) I took this Myth and Folklore class thinking that it was just a class on Greek Gods and their mythology. Instead, we became writers and it was then that I feel that passion for writing blossomed and grew. I've written short stories and little things here and there, but it wasn't until RECESS that I actually wrote a full blown novel.

Right now I'm working on the second book in the RECESS series titled DOWNFALL! I'm really excited to get this second installment finished and of course, edited, but more importantly I'm excited to dive deeper into these characters and for all of you see so much more of this world!

Since I'm an aspiring writer myself, I would say to just keep doing it. You're going to hear a lot of people tell you that you can't, or people that just say it's impossible to do. Sometimes the world will feel like it's against you and that's alright ... just keep going, because the difference between people that make it and fail is that the people that make it never gave up.

I get up and move around! It's the only thing that works for me ... I walk away from my computer and get out, go on a hike or a walk with the dogs, go anywhere that isn't me sitting down and staring at a computer and wondering where the words are supposed to come.
