Six years ago a man re-entered my life after 33 years. Full disclosure, he was my first serious boyfriend, and ended up being the main reason I moved to Colorado from Pennsylvania. It appeared he had my entire life all planned out, but unfortunately neglected to tell me about it. Upon discovering the plan, I knew that just breaking up with him wouldn't work. He was a control freak as well as a planner. He was also a few years older than me and considered himself very worldly and wise compared to me, and loved to tell me what to do. Did I mention he was a control freak?
I was in my senior year in college. I broke up with him, packed my 1974 Ford Maverick and 5 days after graduation, left town with a college room mate to have an adventure and seek our fortunes. Thirty-three years later, when I was back in my hometown taking care of my dying parents when I heard a strange woman's voice calling his name as I was driving my mother home from the hospital. The sequence of events that followed were pretty bizarre, and remarkable. And it all started with a small gold necklace that I threw away just a few weeks earlier.....
It was so weird. And boy, did I dodge a bullet!

From working with hundreds of clients over the past twenty years. I was frustrated that I could only reach a relatively small population of people who were in my area, and I saw the benefits they received from the techniques I taught them. I was even more frustrated and annoyed by the advice that the "experts" would give to a population over fifty, and some of it was really bad, as well as wrong. I already had copious notes from my own personal and professional experiences and observations, so this book seemed like a natural segue.

That's a great question! One of my four sisters kept telling me, "You should write a book." Either I finally believed her or I wanted her to quit nagging me (I'm still not sure which), so I started writing one. I give her a lot of the credit for seeing my potential. Thanks, Sis!

I am currently working on my second book, which goes into greater detail about one of the four movement arts I discuss in "Forever Fit and Flexible." It is called Feldenkrais, and it is a powerful method of healing through movement. It isn't very well-known, and my goal is to make it a household word, so more people can benefit from this remarkable method.

Just do it. When you get discouraged, take a few days off, and try again. Keep at it--everyone has a story to tell or an important message to share, and I can't wait to hear yours! So, just do it. I know you can!

The best thing about being a writer is all of the wonderful people I have met along the way. From fellow authors, to editors, designers, publishers, and of course, my readers, my circle of friends has grown exponentially, and I know the best is still yet to come. It has been an incredible journey!

I step away from the project and do something physical. Whether it's taking a quick walk around the block, a long hike in the mountains, going to a ballet class, or even just sitting on an exercise ball for a few minutes is a fantastic way for me to get the creative juices flowing again. I always come back with fresh ideas, and get some great exercise under my belt at the same time. Win-win!
