Definitely Ingary from Howl's Moving Castle. Once I was there I would track down Sophie and Howl and make them adopt me and teach me magic.

Maria and Horatio Hornblower from C.S. Forester's Hornblower novels. They are just absolutely dysfunctional and completely mismatched, and the distress this causes Horatio is a source of endless humor.

Does anybody really know where inspiration comes from? I get inspired by all kinds of things--people, places, movies, television shows, music. Other people's work is perhaps my greatest source of inspiration. I'll read a great book or listen to an amazing song and think to myself, "I want to create something as good as this."

For me, writing is a means to escape the day-to-day trudge of regular life. The best part about being a writer is being in total and complete control of another beautiful reality, and being able to shape that reality however you see fit.

What I've found with my writing is when I feel blocked, it's usually because I've taken a wrong turn somewhere. Take a step back, look at the piece, and find out where things started to go to hell. Usually I'll be in a pretty good flow (or just feel good about what's going on on the page) and when I come to a point where I no longer feel good, I nix most everything from then on (except maybe a few good lines worth salvaging). The best thing you can do for your writer's block is cut ties with what got you blocked in the first place.

Write every day. Writing is a verb, to be a "writer" is "to write". It's not a title or a noun or something you get to claim because your name is on the bottom of a book. All it takes is a dedication to the craft. Writers write, so write.

I'm working on a second novel (not a sequel, haha, read the book and you'll see why) set some thirty years in the future where circuses have become the main form of entertainment. It is an absolute UNDERTAKING that has cost me a year of my life and some hair pulling already.
