Kevin Sinclair Whether your intention is to plot, or run with an idea, my personal opinion is to finish the book before you get caught up in editing or adding bits in. Write it to the end and only then go back and sort things out. By all means leave yourself notes, but finish it like your life depends on it. Then fix that baby up. Stories can develop a life of their own, and something may happen in that final chapter that changes something subtly in that first chapter, or throughout. If you've already tried to perfect the manuscript as you wrote, then those changes will be harder to implement. It's also harder to lose faith in your work if you already have an end in sight and easier to lose faith if you spend to long tinkering before you have a finish line.
And write!
