When I was young, our town was shocked by the murder of the wife and daughter of artist Edward Maps. The night his house in Stroudsburg burned, he vanished, never to reappear. As to whether the crime makes for a good plot, I think it does: a fictionalized version appears in MR. MAYHEM, the first book in the Brinker series.

I have two sets: Jeeves and Wooster, the wonderfully witty creations of P.G. Wodehouse, and a pair of my own, former detective CW (Candace) McCoy and her mentor, PA State Police Commander Walter Bishop. Shameless plug alert: If you are interested in McCoy and Bishop, they make their debut in PEAK SEASON and return for another round in TOURIST IN PARADISE.

Jeff Widmer
I got the idea for "Peak Season" from a combination of sources: a newspaper article about a fugitive financier, friends who talk about the hazards of selling real estate and a relocation to Southwest Florida, a region that depends too heavily on tourism and housing.
