T.A. Hernandez The idea for Secrets of PEACE initially came to me after I finished playing the first Assassin's Creed game. The concepts and ideas presented in that game were really interesting to me, especially the whole thing about using assassinations as a means to serve a greater good and how justifiable that was. I really wanted to explore that idea further. The ending also influenced my story a lot.
T.A. Hernandez I'm inspired by all kinds of things. Music is a big one. So are video games, movies, books, T.V. shows--anything with a good story and characters. Sometimes inspiration happens randomly. I was at a rodeo a few weeks ago with my family and suddenly got all kinds of ideas for a picture book. It just kind of wrote itself in my head right then and there. There's a quote by Orson Scott Card that kind of sums up how I feel about inspiration and the fact that you can find it anywhere. "Everybody walks past a thousand story ideas every day. The good writers are the ones who see five or six of them. Most people don't see any."
T.A. Hernandez Right now, I'm working on the sequel to my debut novel, Secrets of PEACE. The story picks up where the first one left off and will hopefully be completed within the next year. I'm also working on a picture book which I hope to publish sometime soon. The writing is all finished and the illustrations are about halfway done.
