I rest for a few weeks between drafts. So when I do get back I have a lot of inspiration and motivation. Other than that I just keep the question in my head all day long as I'm doing "not writing". The answer tends to pop up while I'm in the shower / nature / meditating.

Being able to imagine different world and situation. I like the world building part and to solve plot holes that I create for myself along the line.

Don't bully yourselves around with daily word counts. Just find a convenient time to write for 30-45 minutes everyday. Don't rush it, if you write something, that's great. If not just go through the story in your head. Good stories takes time and making art is not for machines.

It started out as a funny YA novel about dating in an underground city in year 2321 but I didn't know if I can write a novel. I have screenwriting experience. A few years after the Arab Spring happened, elections in Israel stirred things up, as well as the rise of ISIS. I felt I couldn't write a funny YA novel anymore. I had to go "serious' and deeper in my allegory.

Israel can be a very hectic place, so daily life, politics, security issues and the events in the middle east give me a lot to think about (and experience).
