jon libby Since the release of my debut novel (The Sorceress' Prophecy) I have been trying to market it (so far unsuccessfully). However, literary wise I am half way through a work I started before the debut novel.
jon libby Don't give up when the hard times come (and they will). Eschew arrogance and constantly try to improve your craft. The surest thing that will guarantee success is mastery of your craft, everything else is secondary.
jon libby The best thing for me is its ability to take me away from reality, even if just a bit, even though snippets of reality will inevitably be ingrained within prose. I guess in that sense it is like a drug to take away the harshness of life. Another major thing for me is the thrill of actually designing a reality of which I am the sole controller (Sorta like playing God). There is something sublime about it.
jon libby I don't have writer's block the same way other authors do. A surfeit of ideas bombards at every turn, so my main problem is choosing the right ones to best unravel the plot. When this becomes difficult, I write some backstory on one of the characters. I guess the ironic cure for writer's block is to write.
