Mark Elvy Badly! Book one and two went really well, then early on in book three I struggled. I left it for a while, then eventually changed a whole chapter and thankfully the story began to flow again. Sometimes when writing you come to a junction, you may turn left and drive a bit, then hit the dreaded writers block, so it might mean reversing back to the junction and take the right hand turn instead
Mark Elvy There are plenty of exciting new adventures and characters just waiting to be discovered buzzing around in my head, there's no limit to having great imagination. They're your stories, nobody else's, and you can steer the book, stories and characters in whichever direction you want, and don't be afraid to change direction halfway through if it feels right!
Mark Elvy Find something that interests you and just begin typing away, don't overthink the story, you'll be surprised what can be achieved. Don't edit as you go along, enjoy the writing and the hard work, ie: editing can come at the end
Mark Elvy A new Fluke and Tash Adventure book - Dinosaur Adventure, which is set in Colorado 65 million years BC - I'm really enjoying writing this one, so much fun
Mark Elvy The positive feedback I receive from parents and children that read my books is great, their enthusiasm inspires me. When I was young I remember the enjoyment I got from reading a set of books and saving up pocket money to buy the next in the series. If I can give a little of that feeling back to my readers then i'm happy and my job is done
Mark Elvy I love the Olympic Games and whilst watching the 2016 Olympics I knew there was a story begging to be written, so I set my latest book in Ancient Greece, plus you've got the mythical creature aspect as well which has always fascinated me
