Kieran Higgins Find out what is you like to write. Romance, fantasy, horror, non-fiction, and figure out your format - articles, short stories, novels. Once you've nailed that down, practice makes perfect. Study the craft by reading writers you admire, get some good books on writing, but you don't have to spend loads on courses, they probably won't help in the end. Set targets for yourself and make sure you put your work in front of people. Feedback is the most helpful thing a writer can have.
Kieran Higgins Originally, I wanted to write a book from Morgan LeFay's perspective, though this has been done to death. So when I was researching her, I noticed she had a sister I'd never heard of. Perfect! No one had ever written about her, so I thought she was the best character to be the POV, a character I could build from the ground up.
Kieran Higgins Take a break. A day or two. And then get back on the horse. Writer's block is like a pipe. The only way to unblock it its to clear the blockage and flush it through. Write, just not on the project that's getting you down. A blog post, a diary entry, an email. Get those juices flowing again!
Kieran Higgins I am currently working on a Gothic novella which I hope to have out by the end of the summer. There's also my weekly flash fictions for my website.

I'm also plotting my next novel, due out next summer. I can't give too much away, but let's just say a very familiar face is getting her turn in the spotlight.
