Elsa Kurt My most recently released book, The Awkward Woman's Guide To Dating (After Divorce) was based in parts on my own dating experience after divorce. While I'm not quite as awkward as my heroine, my husband can confirm that the plate incident is indeed based in reality!
Elsa Kurt I am a crazy avid dreamer, so there's been many a time where I've woken up in the morning inspired by something in a dream. With Lost & Found Girls, I woke up with the opening line, "I know something you don't know..." in my head and knew right away it was a story.
Elsa Kurt I'm working on three books (okay, not literally at the same time). One is a sequel to Into the Everwood, the second is a prequel to Lost & Found Girls, and lastly, a standalone book about the life of a teen girl growing up in the 1980's. I'm never NOT writing, to be honest.
Elsa Kurt I hate to give a cheesy answer, but... WRITE. Literally, every single day. Consider it a muscle that has to be exercised regularly, or a living thing that needs nourishment. Challenge yourself to write in different ways, different perspectives, too.
Elsa Kurt The best thing about being a writer is definitely when a reader tells you they were moved/affected by something you wrote. I had more than a few people tell me that Lost & Found Girls made them actually cry, which is a really big deal because I cried writing the scene!
Elsa Kurt I struggle more with distractions, rather than block. Once I'm sitting & committed to writing, I fall pretty easily into my 'pretend world'.
