Debra R. Sanchez These days, I think I would happily go to The Hundred Acre Woods. There I would spend time eating honey and having adventures with the kind characters who live there.
Debra R. Sanchez 2020 started like any other year. Then Covid exploded the globe into chaos, as everyone searched for masks and toilet paper.

(no one said the horror story had to be fiction :) )
Debra R. Sanchez Last year I didn't really read much. But this year...I plan to read books by Ruth Ochs Webster, Kerry E.B. Black, David Q. Hall, and other lesser known authors.

Always more Neil Gaiman, too.
Debra R. Sanchez I temporarily stop working on whatever project experienced the block, and go to something different. If I don't have something else to work on at the time, I use writing prompts. I read. I sit in nature. I breathe.

Debra R. Sanchez For me, the best thing about being a writer is see the words that insist on escaping my mind become words on a page.

My favorite writing quote is by Alfred Kazin, and appeared in "Think Magazine" in February, 1963:

"The writer writes in order to teach himself, to understand himself, to satisfy himself. The publishing of his ideas, though it brings gratification, is a curious anticlimax."
Debra R. Sanchez Write. That is the best advice possible. If you are already writing, find a writing group, or beta readers who will give you honest feedback.

Don't give up if the feedback is not always positive. You can't learn and grow as a writer if you don't know what you can improve.
Debra R. Sanchez My next project is a children's picture book. I'm also working on a larger YA urban fantasy.
Debra R. Sanchez Looming deadlines seems to work best for me. My best inspiration, however, comes from the spark of an idea that tickles my brain until I must release it in whatever form it demands. That's why I write a bit of everything.
Debra R. Sanchez I lead and participate in several writing groups. I frequently had to come up with prompts to keep the writers engaged and writing, especially when they hit the dreaded "writer's block" and felt like giving up.

I believe in the power of prompts, and decided to share the inspiration and success with all writers.
