Hmmm... this is interesting because I had a reader ask me the same question the other day. To be honest, I don't dwell too much on character names. I type the first name that pops in my head and go with it. Sometimes, I end up changing them during editing process when it doesn't fit the overall setting I've created or when my editors tell me it's not suitable. Otherwise, I stick to common first names. As for their last names, I try to have fun mixing and matching syllables from names I've encountered in other books :D

Steven's momma. You'll have to read the book to understand why but I think she has an interesting character arc.

I am an endings gal. I mean, if I have an ending for the book I'm writing, then I'm inspired to craft the story to get to it as quickly as possible. Writer's block for me is when I don't have an ending to a story. Yeah, in other words, it all starts with an ending!

I'm working on my next book titled Halversham, scheduled for release in May 2016. I just received the content edit report from my editor two weeks ago and I'm knee deep in rewrites.
It's about an innocent small town with unsolved mysteries. If you've read Pork, then you'd have been briefly introduced to Emily Doyne. Halversham is about her. I don't want to reveal too much (chuckles) but know that it won't disappoint you.
It's a lot of work between promoting Pork and rewriting Halversham at the moment but it's fun and I'm not complaining one single bit. This is exciting stuff!

This is a tough business. It's not enough to be able to write well. You've got to learn hundreds of new things if you're planning on going indie. After you've done all that, you've got to keep your chin up when nobody buys your book. When no one's willing review your book and when someone leaves a negative review. I think the key thing is to persevere and stay focused. Things will always get better if you persevere.

The power of creating people, places, past, present and future. It's exciting!

I can't afford to entertain writer's block now that I've decided this is what I want to do. I mean, the writing will not be excellent when forced, but crappy is better than empty in my opinion. I can't do much when the page is empty but I can go back and edit if it's crappy.
