I woke up one morning after having a nightmare and the thought was there. I started writing. It has ended up being something very different than what it had started out being. It often happens that way for me. I let my characters sway me to take them in different directions. This time, research on a certain subject took me in a different direction as well. You never know what will spark an idea, and you never know what that idea will turn into. Just stick with it!

I just finished my first draft, of the second book, in my Savannah PD Series. I am so excited about this one, and can't wait to share it with everyone. It is currently in its first round of Beta Reads and then edits and more Beta reads and more edits, then proof reading and cover design and everything else that goes along with self publishing a book. It'll be a little bit before I start on anything new.

Just write, and keep writing. When you aren't writing, read--read lots of books!

If I get stuck on a scene, or am struggling to come up with an idea, I read. Sometimes after getting through one book, an idea will be sparked. Sometimes it takes a couple of books before I feel inspired to get back to writing. I rarely force myself to write, as I feel like I don't do my best work when it's forced. I also don't read in the genre that I am currently writing in. I don't want to be swayed in my story because of something that another author has written.
