Alison R. Solomon I grew up in England. My grandfather's sister left England in the 1920s for the USA. Family legend is that her husband came home and found a note: Taken the children, gone to America." But I'd also heard that she went with her "best friend." Maybe one day I'll track down the truth.
Alison R. Solomon Patience and Sarah (Isabel Miller.) Though ironically I don't often read historical fiction, but I read this many, many years ago and was touched by it. Naturally, I'm also partial to my own Sadie and Rosa (It Happened Here) because there aren't that many stories about female couples in their seventies.
Alison R. Solomon I'm very lucky that I can pick and choose when I write. So I only write when I'm in a good mood and well-rested. Just about anything can inspire me: reading other people's work; reading the newspaper; a conversation; something I saw happen; the list is endless.
Alison R. Solomon I am currently completing a novel in the same genre as Along Came the Rain. When I finish it, I'd like to go back to two previous projects, both in completely different genres. One is a memoir and the other is general fiction.
