Can you tell us a two-sentence horror story?
Kathy Hammad "I'm sorry darling, I'm going to be late this evening," Jack said, before saying goodbye and hanging up. That was just before a policewoman arrived at the door to tell me that a mutilated body, found in the woods that afternoon, was his.

Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?
Kathy Hammad Well Elizabeth Bennett and Darcy spring instantly to mind, but I think probably Beatrice and Benedick from Much Ado About Nothing are my favourites. There are always sparks flying between them - both so intelligent and yet so flawed!

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Kathy Hammad I don't so much suffer from writer's block as a small voice in my head that says things like 'there's a very large pile of laundry in the bedroom and the lawn needs mowing.' I'm a procrastinator, but once I'm in the zone I'm fine.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Kathy Hammad The best thing about being a writer is that it gives you the opportunity to live many different lives. Entering that imaginative zone where ideas flow and characters come to life is the most satisfying and rewarding experience. Better than anything else!

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Kathy Hammad Just keep writing! Read good books and keep writing. Don't be aftaid to give your work to other people to read and ask for honest feedback.

What are you currently working on?
Kathy Hammad I'm working on a sequel to Artless at the moment.

How do you get inspired to write?
Kathy Hammad Sometimes snippets of conversation I overhear in public places, or stories on the news will give me ideas. Also great writing from other novelists inspires me.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Kathy Hammad Hi! I worked for a few years at Sothebys in London and I was inspired by the variety of people from different backgrounds, class and situation who walked through the door. Some of the people I worked with were inspiration for the characters too!
