C. Rodney James My favorite fictional couple is Chris Vickers (41) and Cynthia Longacre (22). They are my favorite because I created them. They appear in my first novel of a series of "police procedural/CSI" stories: ORIGINAL CYN A Love Story...With Guns. Vickers is a forensic firearms examiner recently fired for punching a prosecutor who has attempted to goad him into making an unethical judgement call. This disaster is followed by news from Vickers' Wife that she is leaving him.

Faced with the prospect of having to go out on his own, Vickers retreats to a cabin in the boondocks of northeastern Ohio to rebuild his career. Here he encounters the girl next door -- Cyn, a bored, highly-educated, often obnoxious, daughter of a wealthy lawyer who decides to worm her way into Vickers' work.

Chris wants nothing to do with her until Cyn's family connection provides a back-door opportunity to get back into the case that got him fired. The price is having Cyn as a partner. Chris breaks a rule passed on by a police mentor : never work with civilians -- they can get you killed.
C. Rodney James This is a hard one. When I first tried writing fiction I'd get maybe two pages and ... nothing. Like writing nonfiction I started making outlines, even to the point of setting word counts for various sections. The writing wasn't very good at times, but at least I had a completed work I could work over.

C. Rodney James Take good care of your physical health! good diet, plenty of sleep, exercise.
In short, prepare to live a long time you will likely need it
C. Rodney James Most of my writing is nonfiction. when I get an idea I think I can sell, I pitch it.
C. Rodney James I guess I'll qualify this -- the most recently published or most recently written?
Anger and outrage inspire a lot of my writing. PERSUASIVE EVIDENCE is my take on the incredible growth of the JFK conspiracy theory --how so much could be created from so little, but (that magic ingredient) money can do amazing stuff. Most recently written THE END OF CIVILIZATION was based on bitter personal experience stemming from the collapsing of higher education and how this collapse has and continues to destroy the lives of those those who have tried and are trying to survive in academia. It was easy to write, hell to live through.
