I would love to travel to the Russia of "War and Peace" by Leo Tolstoy. The history fascinates me as well as the time and characters who people the book. Of course, I wouldn't be in any danger because I'd know what was going to happen, having read the book!

I'm adding these books to my want-to-read list: Bruce Cameron's The Midnight Plan of the Repo Man, Virginia Woolf's Night and Day & Jabob's Room, Marley and Me by John Grogan since I just wrote a book about an irascible dog named Jake! And since I live in Paris now, I'm going to start a book a friend gave me. The Essential Poems and Writings of Robert Desnos translated into English, by Mary Ann Caws.

I was touched and emotionally moved by the plaques you see all around Paris commemorating the brave young Resistance fighters who died on the spot during the time of the Nazi Occupation of France from 1940 to 1945, gunned down by Nazis right there on the streets and bridges. Also, I happened to visit the Imperial War Museum a few years ago in London and was fascinated by the S.O.E. organization, the spies they trained, the equipment and weapons on display in the museum.

A novel set in Paris in the 19th century. That's all I can reveal for now.

I'm not so pretentious as to think I can give advice to anyone.

You are always getting new things to write about just be living life. New people, new situations, new complications become characters, plots and conflicts in the plots. Also feedback from happy readers. (Even feedback from unhappy readers helps to make me think about constructive criticism.)

I don't usually have it! If I ever get a feeling that I don't have inspiration, I don't write. I go for a long walk along the quays of the Seine River. Just seeing this beautiful city of Paris inspires me because all of my books take place right here on these streets, under these leafy trees, on the bridges and the cobblestones. When I return to my computer, I'm ready to start writing.
