Paula Knight I would go to The Handmaid's Tale, join the resistance and help handmaids to escape to Canada. Or, I'd go to Margate and befriend Patsy from Bernard Ashley's Break in the Sun.
Paula Knight Read read read! Read the types of books, subject matter, and genres you wish to write. And turn up at the page - getting started is the hardest part. It doesn't matter if the first words you write are rubbish - that's why recycling was invented (partly). Always carry a notebook and have one by your bed, too. Paula Knight I find walking is great way to allow the subconscious to thrash out writing problems and for generating ideas. Also, keeping a notebook by my bed is essential, because all sorts of ideas happen in those twilight moments before waking up properly. When writer's block descends, refer to said notebook to get the creative juices flowing.
