H.C. Bentley I'd have to say Eve and Roarke from the In Death series by JD Robb. She's always been a "I can do it myself" girl, but Roarke teaches her it's okay to lean on people, to form attachments to others. And the way they are with each other - the way they talk, look, touch - you can tell they're very much in love, even when they want to kick each other in the ass. lol
H.C. Bentley I'd say this book is 90% fiction, 10% personal experiences. The storyline for Her Last Love brewed in my head for the better part of a year before I ever sat down to write it. It was as if Lynn and Carter were nagging me to tell their story.
H.C. Bentley Right now I'm working on the second book of the Small Town Hearts Trilogy, titled Love Comes Home. This book focuses on Kari and her story, which I'm excited about because Kari is fun to write...she's sassy! I'll be bringing back the characters you met in the first book, and introducing some new ones. Plus, we'll get to see how things are going for Lynn and Carter.
H.C. Bentley I get ideas at the most random times and in the weirdest places. And it's usually when it's most inconvenient. Driving down the road, in the shower, or - and this one's the killer - right before I fall asleep. I also get ideas by seeing the people come into the library where I work, and listen to them talk, watch them interact. I try and write things down in my idea journal as I think of them, but it's not always possible.
H.C. Bentley Just write. Sit down with pen and paper, or at your computer, and write. Don't try to control the flow, don't stop to correct the spelling or grammar or punctuation. Worry about that stuff later. Ride that creative wave as long as you can and then dig into making it more polished.
H.C. Bentley The best part, for me anyway, is getting to create these people and these relationships that become such a big part of my life. Because you know how they think, feel, and act, they seem like old friends rather than characters in a book.

Well that, and I get to work in my pajamas if I want. They frown upon that at my day job. ;)
H.C. Bentley Depends on the day and my mood, honestly. I'll either set the project off to the side and forget it for a few days, I'll work on a different project, or I'll read a book other than my own. Sometimes it just takes stepping out of that space in your head for a while to get things flowing again.
