Joy Harding Write. Every day or as often as your schedule allows. If you don't know what to write, pick a character of yours and write an adventure for them. Don't worry about syntax, POV, or punctuation. Just put words on paper. Once you get words on paper, you can worry about the other stuff. Enjoy writing in your world.
Joy Harding I seldom seem to have a problem with being inspired to write. However, if I do, I pray about it. Then I think about my characters. What would they do when faced by a certain situation? What adventures to I picture them enjoying? What faith challenges might they face? Who are their neighbors, friends, work colleagues? Then I start writing---just free form, putting words on a page. Before long those words organize themselves into a story, or a chapter of a book.
Joy Harding There is a weird answer to this question. I woke up in January 2020 with the entire plot line (enough for several books) in my head. I couldn't keyboard fast enough. At first I was just writing for me. After all, I wasn't a published writer, I wrote only for my own enjoyment. But, as it turned out, God had other ideas and here I am.
I grew up in Northern Minnesota, I have been canoe camping in the Boundary Waters, so the setting was a joy for me to share with others.
Thank you for asking,
Joy
Joy Harding I am currently working on book 4 (as yet un-subtitled) in the Boundary Waters Search and Rescue series, this one set some years in the future. My other project is a stand-alone fictional book about an immigrant woman trying to become an attorney in the 1930's. She gets help from an unlikely source. I started this one while in law school and it has now languished for over six years, so it's time.
