Gregory Gates As I mentioned previously, it's a long story. In short, I've been fascinated with space exploration all my life. I remember well the excitement generated by the Apollo program and man's first steps on the moon. I've always hoped we would take the next step - Mars - in my lifetime, but I'm not at all convinced that will happen. So I decided to write a book about how it might be possible right now, today.
Gregory Gates I don't know. I've always enjoyed writing and storytelling. It just seems to come naturally. So far as this debut novel is concerned, well, that's a long story, the seeds of which were planted in my head some 45 years ago.
Gregory Gates Volume II of the trilogy that begins with Margaritifer Basin.
Gregory Gates Persevere. If you believe your idea was good enough to start writing about then have the conviction to finish it. Don't give up the ship.
Gregory Gates Keeping my mind busy, exploring ideas, and researching material that I'm interested in but not thoroughly understanding of. I also enjoy giving my readers not merely a story to read, but concepts to think about.
Gregory Gates I've never really had writer's block. I can always find something to write. If I'm trying to get from point A to point B in a story, but am not sure how to get there, I may go ahead and write point B, then work backwards to point A. I also like to write short stories that are canonical with a major work. They tend to enhance my understanding of a particular character or concept in the larger story.
