I've started reading it and I just want to be clear: there are two characters, Caden, and this Michael Cardazia, whose journals Caden is recounting in a journal of his own? Seems like some serious writing gymnastics there. Why did you decide to write the story that way?

Caden Hi Marie. That's correct. Caden finds Michael's journals by accident and recounts the story. So most of the story is told from Caden's interpretation. In the second book, how Caden finds these journals is revealed. Also, what happens to Caden as a result of finding the journals and telling the story, is evident in the 2nd book as well. Is the Caden in Caden's Journals you? I'm just curious because when I started out, my alter ego in the story was my thirteen year old self, until she began to grow up. It surprised me that a character that was definitely me could became definitely someone else after a certain point.

That is a great question. Caden is not me. The character Michael Cardazia is loosely based on me in real life. Caden is someone I admire but since this is going to be a trilogy, I cannot review his true identity or his relationship to the other main characters. Thank you for the great question.
