The first book is quite a dark tale about child murder so I wanted the sequel to be a much less intense tale, but its still quite dark! I also wanted to set it in a Château so it all started from that.

This novel really started with my love of French music and French films. It all stemmed from that and keeps me wanting to write more.

To just keep writing. Keep going. Make notes, plot it out as best you can so you have a good idea where your story is going. And don't always trust yourself! I've written chapters that I thought where dreadful and was about to delete them, only to be told by my trusty proof reader that it was a great chapter.

Getting good reviews! Ha, no seriously, writing a book can be very lonely and often no-one reads what you are doing until months after you wrote it, and then suddenly someone does read it and they like it and you think, "What, MY book?'. Knowing that someone likes your work makes it all worth while.

Just to keep trying. I have a large moleskine notebook and if I ever get stuck or can't think where to go I pull out the notebook and just make notes, jot down ideas, random thoughts, anything really. Its amazing how that can turn into new ideas and new directions.
